SGEU Strike: Department of Highways

When I read in the paper on this day of blowing snow and winds gusting to 80km/h that the department of highways workers would be on strike, I thought of the dangerous highways and to myself I said, "They couldn't have picked a worse day."

When went out into the blasting ice crystal winds, and saw them outside picketing, I thought, "They couldn't have picked a worse day."

Blowing snow

Wind warning continued. It was too blustery to go back deep enough into the park to capture the more dramatic scenes I had seen.

What truly matters at this time of year

It's not a line of Boxing Day proportions, but this was the scene at Regina's Best Buy this morning as people lined up it hopes of getting their share of a small shipment of Wii and PS3 gaming consoles.

Inside one of the employees seemed delighted to tell latecomers they were out of luck.

American response

Regina isn't that far from the Air Force Base in Minot, North Dakota.
